Teachers
Helping You in Your Role as a Classroom Teacher
My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment . . . But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
James 3:1, 17
The teacher of children is privileged to impress herself or himself upon the hearts and minds of this generation and future generations. Christa McAuliffe was right in saying “I touch the future; I teach.” The exhortation in James 3 suggests the enormity of consequence this privilege affords: a great accountability, a “stricter judgment.” It also foretells the force of education in one single life and in an entire generation. Teachers of children surely do hold the future in their hands.
The only rational and moral response to the challenge, therefore, is to examine and prepare oneself to be an instrument in the Lord’s hands—the only ones capable of such an awesome responsibility and influence.
The Foundation for American Christian Education exists to equip, instruct, inform, and inspire Christian teachers. The thoroughly Christian philosophy of education was formed over many centuries. The chain of Christianity® shows the milestones made by the application of the understanding of God and His purposes to all areas of life. American education was the recipient of centuries of preparation through the Bible translated into English, the Reformation, the Pilgrims, and the planting of a form of government that allowed individual liberty of conscience. The result is the model of education that formed the hearts and minds of our founding fathers—the Principle Approach®.
The Foundation for American Christian Education performs its mission through publications and through courses to train teachers and parents in the Principle Approach. We encourage the development of Christian schools to demonstrate this methodology for others to inspire its dissemination.
A demonstration school can be reviewed at www.stonebridgeschool.com. An international model of schools demonstrating the Principle Approach can be found at www.AECEP.org.br. The results of the Principle Approach in forming a Biblical Worldview in the student has been empirically demonstrated by the Nehemiah Institute through the PEERS Test.
